About this Blog

Welcome, Reader
I'm Kahla, and I am a recent graduate of Miami University, where I had the opportunity to study psychology and anthropology. I created a series of papers for a senior capstone class, developmental psychopathology, which is the study of risk and resilience over the lifespan, broadly speaking. The class--and this paper series on childhood depression--were meant to draw on most of the knowledge I had accumulated during my time as a psych major. I had a great time working on this project, and because I found myself learning quite a bit, I thought this information might be equally useful for a more general audience as blog posts. I hope the following information is helpful!

Many things could have brought you to my blog…
- Perhaps you wonder if childhood depression actually exists.
- Maybe you are a conscientious adult looking for clues that a child may be struggling with depression.
- You might even be worried that a child you know currently has childhood depression.

There is a ton of information about childhood depression out there! How do you, a thoughtful and engaged reader, know which resources or pieces of information are valuable and worth consideration? With luck, my presentation of some of this information will be, at the very least, interesting, and at the most, enlightening, practical information that you can use in your life. To that end, I will take you along with me on my journey as I research my way through the information about childhood depression. I’ll do my best to be transparent about my sources and about why certain information is worth thinking about. With all that being said…

Please take a look around. On the right-hand side of this page, you'll find links to a series of posts about childhood depression, information about where to go for help, and a list of my references.

This information is not meant to be exhaustive. As I said earlier, there is an  astounding amount of information about childhoo
d depression out there--and that body of knowledge is only growing. Rather, I have attempted to synthesize some of the larger ideas and concepts I came across during my research for this project and during my time as a psych major. If you have any questions, please leave me a comment at the end of any post or on the "Questions" page. Thank you, and happy reading.
